LookLEADFollow is a multi-faceted, hands on, tiered Life Skills curriculum created to develop basic functional independence in areas ranging from self care to organization!
Hello! My name is Lisa and I have been an Occupational Therapist for the past 7 years. From the very beginning I was captivated by 2 things: learning through play and developing functional independence! The LookLEADFollow Curriculum combines these two concepts to create a fun, motivating, and captivating Life Skills Program, that develops skills spanning from basic self care, to money management, and even organization. This curriculum systematically exposes and teaches children a variety of different skills sets, while constantly engaging them in real time practice in observational and social skills that they need to be independent in today's society. LookLEADFollow believes there is so much more to life skills than set tasks you learn to achieve...it is the journey towards adulthood; and this curriculum ensures that the journey is a memorable one. Welcome to our world of Independence!

LookLEADFollow is the basic observational and problem solving skill that demonstrates one's adaptability and level of independence in any situation. When creating this curriculum, a lot of brainstorming went into identifying what foundational skill will always benefit our children in every situation. What could possibly help our students ALL the time…finally the light bulb clicked! No matter what age you are, where you are, or what you’re doing, there is a basic skill that enables you to navigate and accomplish any task. This skill was broken down into 3 simple words: Look, Lead, Follow.
The foundation are the essential ingredients to the program, and why the program works. This chapter helps any individual create a structured program that can be tailored to the needs of your children!
1st Unit of the Program! This unit provides a structured way to teach the key concepts of the program. These concepts are: observational skills that develop independence (LLF), responsibility/sense of independence (homework & jobs), and money management skills that will enable students to one day purchase their own snacks.
The Food Management Unit breaks down the functional components of eating and directly practices them! Unit Skills range from table manners to preparing and cooking your own meal!
In this unit executive functioning is taught in crucial areas: Organization of our Space, Organization of our Time (i.e. Time Management), and Organization of our Mind (initiation, sequencing, and execution of a task).
In the Hygiene & Health Unit we provide a space and time to discuss and practice basic hygienic principles as well as develop self awareness on mental, physical and nutritional health.
The Dressing Unit is dedicated to teaching the basic care taking rules of clothing. These rules include how to sort clothing, how to fold, how to pick out the appropriate clothing and knowing your own style of clothes.
